彼得后书 1:4 ... to render us eventually conformable to God, and, __if we may so speak__, to deify us. But the word nature is __not here essence but quality__. (1-5 22:28)
There are also at this day __fanatics who imagine__ that we thus pass over into the nature of God, so that his swallows up our nature. (1-5 22:29)
But such a delirium as this never entered the minds of the holy Apostles; (1-5 22:31)
the holy Apostles; they only intended to say that when divested of all the vices of the flesh, we shall be partakers of divine and blessed __immortality and glory__, (1-5 22:32)
Plato, who everywhere defines the chief good of man to be an entire conformity to God; but as he was involved __in the mists of errors__, he afterwards glided off __to his own inventions__. (1-5 22:33)
